I love my job for many reasons, but one of the best things about my job is that I get to know amazing people. I meet people of all ages, races, and backgrounds. Some of these people I know only for a short while, and others I'm blessed to have in my life for years.
One of the gems that I've known for over 10 years is Macy Sheaman. I remember years ago she was just a little girl sitting on her mom's lap in the row in front of me at church. Every Sunday during the worship service she would look back and me and smile. She has a sweetness and innocence that she has carried with her into her young teenage years.
There is so much more to this girl than meets the eye. She is smart, motivated, goal-oriented, and an inspiring young entrepreneur.
When I used Macy as a hair model nearly two years ago, I was talking with her about her interests and discovered this girl had started her own business. Macy had started attending craft fairs and created an Etsy shop online to sell her items. She made beautiful jewelry, scarves, and also sold her photography work. Over the last year, she analyzed her sales trends and realized that her most sought after items were her crocheted pieces. So she adjusted her little shop and began to make as many crocheted pieces as possible.
Did I mention she that at the time she wasn't even 13?
You might think that someone her age probably doesn't make things that you want to wear or something of high quality... guess again. Her items are all well made and beautiful. Her scarves, hats, and other items become staples in your closet. You will even start to change what you are wearing just so it matches your new scarf!
Macy's items were so popular that she was selling out and started to have requests for custom orders. Since Christmas 2014, Macy has worked very hard to build up enough inventory to satisfy the demand, though her pieces will probably sell out again before Christmas.
Her scarves and cowls aren't all this girl makes. She also makes gorgeous hats, headbands, camera straps (my personal favorite), and knitwear for kids. Also, a portion of her proceeds from all of her sales benefit Samaritan's Purse.
Macy has also built a solid following on social media just by posting her work. She has over 3000 followers on Instagram! You can find her on Instagram @imcrazyforcraftin and on Facebook at I'm Crazy For Craftin'. To view her gorgeous handiwork check her out at https://www.etsy.com/shop/ImCrazyForCraftin
I am confident that Macy is just at the beginning stage of an awesome career. Follow her on social media to see what this amazing girl is up to.
